TRUANCY OR SCHOOLÂ REFUSAL?
We can help.
Approximately 2–5% of children refuse to come to school due to anxiety or depression. In severe cases, school refusal can force a student to miss weeks or months of school because of debilitating symptoms. Making matters worse, schools frequently don’t identify school refusal as a mental health problem. Criminal prosecution and child welfare investigations do little to help the underlying causes of school refusal behavior.
We have worked to stop criminal proceedings and child welfare investigations, and to instead shift the focus to creating educational programs that get kids back into school.

According to the National Association of School Psychologists, school refusal needs to be addressed promptly and aggressively with a team that includes teachers, parents, administrators, support staff, and, in some cases, community agencies and physicians.
Recommended IEP interventions can include cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral support plans, and parent training.
